Join us to explore what Wellbeing Economics can do for Wales.

4theRegion, WE Cymru, Oxfam Cymru, Cwmpas and the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales are organising the inaugural Wellbeing Economy Cymru conference in November 2024.

This will be a Festival of Ideas, open to everyone from all walks of life, with special relevance for all those working in sustainable business, economic development, community empowerment and public services in Wales. This event will aim to change how we think about our economy, its purpose, and its possibilities – and will highlight the practical actions being taken at local, regional and national level in Wales to transition Wales to a wellbeing economy.

1. Our economic system is focussed on economic growth. How can we ensure we develop an economy that delivers wellbeing for people, places and planet?

2. What it means to be a Wellbeing Economy citizen, business, public body or organisation, and how all of us can invest in (and grow) Wales’ Wellbeing Economy on a day-to-day basis.

3. How Wellbeing Economics can provide the unifying narrative that we need for the economy in Wales, and how we can shape that common vision through the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

4. How to apply Wellbeing Economics in economic development policies and strategies at every level to shape your local, regional and national economy.

5. The importance of measuring the Wellbeing Economy, to balance traditional economic metrics such as GDP, and drive real change.

Join us, from communities, businesses and organisations, to explore what Wellbeing Economics can do for Wales!

Wellbeing Economy Cymru: redesigning the Welsh economy to put people and planet first!

WE Cymru is an alliance of people and organisations – a network of networks – striving for a new and better economy for Wales; one that prioritises the wellbeing of our people and our planet. We promote the idea that we can, and must, change the economic system we have grown up with, for our collective good. With Wales already positioned as a strong wellbeing economy champion — a leader in the global movement — WE Cymru engages the stakeholders to amplify the momentum so that the tipping points required for deep and lasting change may be achieved.
